COLLEGE WEEK WITH GOOGLE: How do I avoid freshmen 15?
One of the most dreaded myths of college is the freshmen 15...*cue horror music*👻 but today I am here to put those worries to rest..sort of.
So, if you don't know what freshmen 15 is, it's the idea that freshmen in college gain at least 15 pounds from change in diet, stress, and exercising. Not saying that we eat healthy all the time, don't have stress and exercise regularly before college because we all know that is false. But, I don't know, it just like happens to college kids for some reason. NOT FAIR IKR???
However, as a sophomore (almost junior) in college I haven't gained any new weight that I didn't have before college!! *cheering*😃 And this is because of many factors! For one I am not a stress eater at all, so if I'm stressed I tend to not really eat anything because my stomach is in knots. And considering college makes me stressed like a craaaazy person I've avoided binge eating while doing homework.
SECONDLY, the food at colleges is..not gonna lie...complete a$$. I don't know how people go back for seconds I can barely get one plate down. So, yeah just because it's buffet style doesn't mean you should stuff your face...and trust me you won't want to and your stomach will thank you later.😷 DISCLAIMER: DO NOT STARVE YOURSELF!! I am not promoting that but eat enough to the point where you're comfortably full.
THIRDLY, eat as healthy as you can!! I know it is easier just to get fast food (cause you know chick-fil a is bomb) but like, try to keep that to a minimum per week. And when you're in the dining hall make smarter decisions as well, such as a salad. Make sure you have a balanced plate with a protein, a starch and a veggie. SUSAN PUT THAT CUPCAKE DOWN!
FOURTHLY, do not eat meals late at night!! Your metabolism slows down and is not able to digest the food as effectively especially if you go to sleep afterwards. I used to eat Big Macs and then go right to bed and I would wake up feeling like a sack of potatoes!! So when your roomie offers you pizza late at night tell them this blog told you not to. (Yeah you can blame it on us if you need to)
LASTLY, stay active!!💦 It's hard to stay active in college but just get your butt to the gym or join team intramurals or something!! I'm a part of the dance club and it keeps me active and is a great time!! Plus exercise boosts your happiness and dopamine levels. So it's a win win.
Hope this helpssssss:)

FACTS!!! College food is b-o-o-t-y. I was thinking the food might actually be pretty bomb and healthy like it was at the open house, then i come and get food a week into the school year (I commute so i don't eat there often...thank goodness) and they straight up said YEEEET you get what you get and you don't get upset. AKA if you get diarrhea then that's too bad LOL.
ReplyDeleteEither way if you guys do end up gaining weight it doesn't matter! If you feel good about yourself and how you look then who cares if you gained weight. Who knows, that might even be muscle weight that you've gained so it's not always a bad thing.
