FITNESS WEEK WITH GOOGLE: Why are my muscles sore after a workout?

If you're sore after a workout then that sounds like a personal problem and I can't help you.

Just kidding!!!

THAT'S GREAT NEWS!
It means you had a hardcore workout soooo
good👏for👏you👏

So we all know being sore sucks, but you're at the gym to improve your physical and mental well-being. Change isn't going to come easy or overnight so being sore is just one of the annoying factors that comes with your body changing.

Maybe it's just me being weird, but I actually like when I'm sore after the gym because then I know I put in work. However I remember one time I did leg-day and I was sooooo sore the next day that I couldn't even go down the stairs normally. The only way I could get down was SIDEWAYS! I looked ridiculous😣

And don't even get me started on trying to go sit down, my ladies know its a struggle going to the bathroom after leg day😭

But hey, beauty is pain, am I right?

The reason behind your muscles being sore is because your doing things that are intense and not necessarily "normal" for your body to handle. But don't worry, the more you work your muscles the less sore you will become because your body would have adapted to those intensities.

Once that happens, it's time to kick things up a notch and put in MORE work... and get sore again😂

But if you end up feeling like you're absolutely dying from the soreness you should treat yourself to a massage or a bath with Epsom Salt (highly recommend, with some wine or juice and music, yes please👌). And if you're feeling like a dare-devil you can try soaking in an ice bath for about 10 minutes. I've personally never tried an ice bath because I need my water to be scorching hot when I shower so that's a no for me...but I heard it helps!

I promise all the pain will eventually be worth it once you reach your fitness goals so keep up the work!!

... and who knows, you may get lucky like this dude😉↓

  2. I agree, being sore after a workout is sooooo bittersweet. You feel like you're getting results but at the same time it's so difficult to move your body the next day:( I try to avoid soreness the most I can by eating protein and potassium and staying hydrated. Stretching also really helps to loosen up the tight muscles. Nothing compares to the feeling of a good workout.
